A number of people have liked this concept.
The NOTA clan that had been in the thought making finally did have some one jump start it.

Clan: "Party at Your Base", or "Party in Your Base"
(the"at," or "in" has not been decided and is currently being used in accordance with the situation)

current tag: [PYB]

But that was all. The movement has only appeared to be a whim so far.
If you have thoughts and ideas, start developing it :p

PostSubject: Ranking fo a respected name   Wed Aug 20, 2008 6:42 pm

Before it can become official it needs a ranking system to prevent it from being a joke. If you want it to be respected it needs to have credit.

I could see 4 levels:
Noob
Intermediate
Decent
Strong
And a level like "Fearfactor level" - A level where the player's opponents fear what he will do.

You could qualify by a player of a higher rank accepting your eligability.
So if you made a Fearfactor player fear your plans you could then become a "Fearfactor"

This system would support the ranking with out any one person needing to be around.

to make it cleat to other player what is expected from a player wearing a pyb tag the tag could be like this: [PYB-f]Joe[NOTA] the lowercase f standing for his rank "Fearfactor."

If someone want to create interesting names for the other levels, please do.

Ranking is a must if every one is welcome to join, else peopel would need to qualify. Spring is too small not leave people out. So a ranking system will be used.

FearFactor, it does have the right name to it.
But
Noob
intermediate
decent
strong
???
those all are mixed up in many ways
number 1: "strong doesn't fit with spring in general
also, calling the lower levels "noobs" might be a bit much
Intermediate no matter how many times it's said sounds like something you might see in a movie...
also, "decent" fits, but it goes decent strong...
I know your looking for better names for might i suggest some.

New/Beginner
Average
Decent
Good
Experienced
Pro
Master

Founder of a channel should remain founder barring inactivity or compelling evidence otherwise, thus the channel founder is being reverted. It has little to do with clan founder.

You should probably have multiple clans if you want a NOTA clan scene. Monoclan play is dull and imbalanced in large games; see CA or EE for examples. You have enough people, might as well start a competing NOTA clan at the same time.

A competing nota clan sounds fun.

PostSubject: Channel leader   Sun Aug 24, 2008 9:06 am

Spring M = Although this might sound rude, don't take it the wrong way but, please keep in mind, the leadership of the channel and the leadership of a clan are very close, if not the same thing. So the channel leader being changed means the leader of the clan is changed.
Also, regardless of inactivity of 5 years or 3 days, the channel leader switching is an event made by and/or acted of the members of the clan.
(simple terms: if the leader changes, it's simple because another leader is taking his place either by the other leader stepping down or the clan "bowing" to another person)
(do keep in mind that founder and leader are the same thing)

How many players do we have on NOTA? 10, 15? It doesn't seem like having "competing clans" would do much good when all we could have is 2 clans. :/

I believe Joe is right about our player base currently being a bit small to support strong competition. I would think that competitions between teams of two players could be fun but even then the skill levels are so varied that not everyone would truly have a fun competition. I do not even think that we could get one expert 2v2 game balanced.
lol :/
Furthermore with the new changes I am not sure that I have a solid grasp for the balance anymore.

Moderator,
I hope you read what Joe had to say in response to you.

I don't really know what has been going on with this clan, but apparently there has been much drama and now I have been given founder of the channel. Anyone still intersted in doing this clan thing?

ok. Anyone have suggestions on how this should work? Should it be a single clan or two competing clans? What does it actually mean to be the 'official' nota clan? Who would be interested in being leader of the clan?

I quote:

That is perfectly fine.
For the record ImperialAdmiral was the person who called PYB an offical NOTA clan not I.

The word official is even only mentioned once of the forum, and that is about whether or not it is ready to be considered a clan yet.

So if this is an offical clan, that is the NOTA communities choice.

For now until it is function I will take responsibility for leadership of the clan.

What does it mean to be the official clan? it seems like clan and mod are two seperate things. It seems like calling it official would do little except exclude other mods from being part of nota.

Creating NOTA clans would be silleh, there are already few enough decent NOTA players that arent in PWN Razz Splitting them up wouldnt be wise. Anyways, if you want nota clan matches, PWN needs something to be challenging.... Sleep

PWN might be a decent clan indeed... but i doubt that the few good nota players would seriously lose to them if there was a match up on nota.

Also, the players in pyb would need to be able to play other games too, simply because if we only play nota, no one will know we are out there.

we are a small community, and trolling would only give us a bad name.

You to had some more levels I am not sure I can see many, just enough to differentiate between highly skilled, skilled, average, poor, learning and new. That makes six for me. Or highly skilled, skilled, above average average ....

I am not sure if I like these description but atm this is what I wrote:

Newbie - brand new, and learning how to play.

Butter
- not brand new but has much to learn. Will die fairly quickly unless they are lucky or have a break.

Meat - a player who can stand up for most of the early game (first 25 min) - He knows most of the units and what they are for. He can be caught off guard. He can have trouble dealing with situations that arise.

Gristle - A player who will give create a powerful presence on the map - He is well versed in the units and knows how to combat in all/most situations
He may catch him off guard, but not twice.

Wall/Rock - A player who knows the game and will not be an opponent to be underestimated. - His presence will be known and felt on the battle fied. - It will not be easy to catch him off guard

Fearfactor - A player who will make you feel as tho you are never safe - An expert who can play the game to its potential. Often you will find that you can have no econ when fighting these players. - You will not get away with much of any thing with this player against you. Most attempts to raid or catch him in a weak point will fail.

Also, should the skill levels use clear names as joe used, or should we use interesting names as Taim and I have used?

Also do you think thee is more room than those six levels I first mentioned. Do you think we need them?

edit: removed a rofl question
